Last week was hot! The sun was up and bright almost everyday, with hardly any rain! Sister Watt and I have been moaning all week about how gross and hard it is to be out and about in this weather, then we realise how inspired mission calls are becuase we both were praying for rain and not sun, and we got sent to scotland haha. But other than that, all is well!
So as we have been pushing family history in our findings, we have also been working with the recent converts, to do more family history and get names of their ancestors to the temple for their work, since most of them are the first members in their families, they have a lot to work with. So sister Watt and I were going through some of our own family history and discussing cool stories about each of our ancestors when we started comparing dates and names and realised that our ancestors most likely knew each other and were in the same area at the same time in Edinburgh! So I was looking through... oh now i cant remember his name cuz i dont have my papers with me.. but his name was something Muir Fife (very very scottish name) and he was baptised in like September, or october of 1840 I think and then sister watts relative, George D Watt (the first member of the church in europe), came to edinburgh from england that same year in November and stayed there as a missionary for a while. So... we decided that they were probably really good friends and that was really really cool!
So, we had a ward bbq last week and Marie and Victoria came! They are so cool! They couldnt come to church because they had a christening they had to go to on sunday, but they said they will come next week! We are meeting with them on Thursday and I cannot wait! Also, a guy called Victor that we are working with accepted a baptismal date! It was supposed to be on the 3rd but.. he didnt come to church so we are going to have to push it back since you have to come 3 times before baptism here. He has such a strong testimony in God and knows the book of mormon is true, he is just going through a really tough time in his life and so we need to work through some things with him before he can be baptised anyway. He is from Africa and has been in Scotland for about 3 years now i think..
So, I am in the Glasgow zone, and I really like it! We meet together weekly, and also on pdays everybody goes to glasgow and plays dodgeball. Yesterday was really fun! We played dodegeball and i realised how rubbish i am at it, but it was still fun. Sister watt and I were the only sisters playing and so we were on opposite teams most of the time so we mainly got each other out most of the time. The elders are afraid to hit us or something so we were always like the last ones in. Some elders on my team caught onto this and so the new plan was to hide behind me, cuz the other team would hardly ever throw hard at me, so by the end i was getting drilled really hard cuz they gave up on going easy! It is really sad how sore i am today because of it! We also played chair football which is way fun! I am so glad sister watt is cool and will actually do stuff with me! the other sisters sat on the stage and like wrote letters all day. But, I had fun!
Also, i didnt take any pictures last week so these are of the cool tunnel we walk through to get to Glasgow every week at the train station, buildings in glasgow, and our indian food that we have become addicted to, and make all the time! its so good!
Have a blessed week :)
Sister Hulet
