I should just start out by saying, last week was the greatest week of my whole mission. Not just number wise (cuz those were crazy good), but like it was so fun and just so great! We have been doing atleast 1 hour of finding each day, which mostly consists of choosing a street on the map and chapping it. Well, like i said in my last letter, we found this one street and it has been pure gold! We have talked to a lot of people on it and we had to go back over the period of three days to finish it and each time we found at least one potential! We then moved onto another street in a different part of hamilton and found a guy and his gf who let us in and we taught the plan of salvation and we are going back this week cuz they are kind of interested and said they wanted to raise their kids in a church! YES!
Back to the golden street, We met a woman named Marie. We talked a bit and she told us that she had tried a million churches and she had finally started to pray to ask for a sign pointing to which church was true! We were like, well let us tell you about a boy named joseph smith who had those same questions!!! then we showed her and her daughter the restoration dvd which they both LOVED! and Marie said she was really excited for us to come back!! I just cannot explain how great last week was :) Great things happening in Hamilton, and in the SIM all around! Each week we get a letter from president Brown, and the past few weeks the numbers have shot through the roof and this last weeks was just crazy! He just kept talking about this huge wave and the excitement for missionary work in the world today! Its so fantastic!!
So, a little bit more about my life as a missionary: We wake up and run every morning! I kind of love it (once i can get out of bed). We live right next to a park so we get to run through the forest and up this super pretty path every morning, by like a waterfall and stuff, then out onto the streets and through like town center and around to our flat. It is really great and it wakes me up! It is raining half the time, and running on wet cobblestones is not as fun as it sounds, but i havent slipped yet so thats good! The last week has been really really hot! We have been sweating so bad as we hike around! Its crazy how hot it is! The buses are like little ovens as well when it is sunny So they just stink and everyone just moans the whole ride about how hot it is!
District meetings are in Glasgow so we caught a train up there last week and then we went with a member (carl) there today. Its such a cool place. I obviously forgot my camera though so, just like google search Glasgow town center or something and look at a picture of me next to a picture of the busy streets and shops. That's just as good as a picture from me! It was boiling today and we were all in jeans and dying! We also went to a museum today, it was like the transport museum or something.. apparently its like the uks museum of the year or something.. i didnt see the big woop but it was kinda fun! I kept asking carl where the transformers were, and he was like "no, its a transport museum" and i was like, "right, so we dont know which one of these old cars is the transformer" and he was like, "no i said TRANSPORT not TRANSOFRM". i dont think he really gets me. But it was a really fun day. Carl picked took us and the elders to a breakfast buffet and which was fantastic! basically just a lot of sausage, eggs and potatoes!
The fourth of july was last week, and we were going to have a little picnick in the part to celebrate it, but then it snowed... Nothing big, just flurries. But, its July. Anyway, we just ate in the flat and sang American songs all day! Sister Watt wore an american flag pin, and we wore red white and blue. It was a really good day! Also, we eat at McDonalds a lot.. Its just so good! Whenever we had like a really rough day, or when ever we have a really fantastic day, we have to celebrate with McD's! I dont know why we love it so much. The missin president recently opened up the boarders for our missions, so that we can go into any area in our ward rather than splitting boundries with the elders, so we see them a lot and coordinate la's we visit and things like that with them. A lot of buses and trains! We're in Motherwell almost as much as Hamilton! In fact, we are in the Motherwell library emailing right now.
Well, I love it here and I can't wait for the lessons we have this week!
Love, Sister Hulet
P.s. Everyone here thinks I'm a hippie for some reason, I kind of am flattered. They say its the hair and my personality. So, i told sister watt i was going to dred my hair and she was like okay i'll do it with you! so we did two little dreds the other day for district meeting! they turned out pretty well :) Also, sister watt found her tartan and she was very very excited!
