Hamilton.
I have been here for approx 5 days and it is like a totally different mission. The sites, my companion (there's only one now), the ward, and even the accents are all different! I love it though! Sister Watt is my companion, shes from colorado, and she is probably the greatest person on the planet. Not even exagerating there. We have like a lot in common, including our love for icecream, nacho libre, and the big bang theory, among many other things. Plus, she sounds like regina spektor when she sings so, its like i have her cd playing all the time, its brilliant! To top it off she is an amazing missionary, which is a good thing, except it makes me look really really bad, so i will just have to step up my game I guess.
This past week was crazy with moves. I had to catch train after train until i finally got into glasgow. It was super super weird being by myself though, not gonna lie. I was like, oh where is my companion! I should not be alone right now! Also, i had my two suitcases with me which were such a pain to drag around and on and off trains quickly! Once i got to Glasgow, the zone leaders were there and took us to the church. I FINALLY got to play football! I mean, i have played a bit before now, but this was my first actual game and I just love it so much! It was a bunch of elders from Glasgow and Paisly zone and then sister watt and me. haha but it was really fun. Pretty sure SIM has the coolest missionaries of any mission. Just saying.
So I am living in Hamilton but my ward is the Motherwell ward. The elders of the ward live here in motherwell also so we spend a lot of time in both places. The elders are pretty cool so we travel with them a lot to and from glasgow, and we've hung out with them today. Elder Phippen was actually in my last district so i already knew him, and elder brown-cunningham is actually from Edinburgh. Cool stuff. They're funny.
Our flat is really nice. Only like a 5 minute walk from the bus station and train station which is much better than Kirkcaldy. The ward is really cool here as well. It is a bit overwelming to have to meet everybody all at once when you are a new missionary in the area, but my first sunday was really great. We also, got to go to Glasgow and watch the rebroadcast about missionary work and member missionary work that was like last week i think in the states. It was really really good and i wish more members would have been there to see it.
I really like working with sister Watt. Her teaching style is so relaxed and yet she is really bold and just says what she is thinking. It took like a couple days to reajust but i am really excited about the next 6 weeks! We found this golden street by accident the other day. We had extra time so went chapping, which i was kind of dredding, but it turned out that we got 4 potential investigators on that one street alone! Nothing may come from it, but it was such a good street we had so many good conversations and are starting to get into a pattern of talking together.
I will hurry and take a picture of us together so you can see how cool she is. Have a great week :)
Sister Hulet
