Week 6 | Scotland

Hiya!

It is officail, I am a member of the Scotland Ireland mission! This past week Sister Galbraith and I tried haggas and were Kebabtised!!! Here, every missionary must be kebabtised, meaning they eat their first real kebab! I will send pictures but they are just messy nan bread stuffed with lamb and other things, i dont really know what actually... before we ate ours sister Hopkin said, "lets be sure to bless this really well since it was kind of sketchy where we got it." Which is true because we were wet and cold so we stopped at the nearest kebab shop and got the cheapest ones but.. it had to be done! and No one got sick. The power of prayer everyone! :)
Our flat is also under heavy construction this week. meaning, no shower, no walls in some rooms, and only one room in use at a time, which is fine for me cuz i just move my little fold up bed around and sleep where i can. We do have a bath that we are being forced to use, but its terrible! Its been very stressful to try and work around all the workers in our flat all day. but hopefully they will be finished soon!

This last week was very drab, weather wise. I got to witness (and walk through) my first Scotts Mist. Which is basically little rain, just sitting still in the air. Like i cannot explain it really. it looks like very thick fog and then you walk in it and are getting soaking wet! And if you look hard enough you can honestly see like little droplets of water... oh Scotland. THANKFULLY we have an awesome ward mission leader Brother Sim, and his wife! I dont think i have mentioned them before but they are so great! They come and pick us up and take us to church when the weather is really bad but they have to leave their house way earlier because they supply rides to others in the ward that's why they dont drive us every week.

The good thing about having 3 missionaries is that we can do splits within the ward better. Last week my comps went to ward council and i got to go to visit a less active with Brother and Sister Sim. Her name is Karen. She is a single mom with 2 sons, ages 11 and 14. She was really great but she doesnt come to church because it is a lot of petro since it is a ways to drive everysunday and her boys have football games sunday as well. She still has a testimony though and she said she will try to come next week. Brother Sim just told her she better come! He is so bold with the members he knows that he likes to tell them how to live, but he does it in a good way and they all love him for it because he is a nice guy! He is also really funny, him and his wife just argue jokingly all the time and I got to see a different side of them when we went to visit karen. They were converted when they were just starting off as a married couple and they never looked back. They are both super spiritual and great people!

So we have had to opportunity to travel a lot more last week and we got to go out to some of the surrounding villages looking to contact Less actives and to eat with members. I am pretty sure when i move back to Scotland after my mission I will live in one of the Wemyss (Weems) They are incredible great! There are three in our area, East, West, and Coaltown (pronunciation: Colton of Weems). East Wemyss skirts the coast and it is tiny and gorgeous and I just want to never leave when we go there. They are all very tiny as well. Audrey (the South African with the purple house) lives in Coaltown and it is literally 3 streets by like 5. It looks a bit like a horror movie because it is just too quiet all the time! We are going to help her paint her house next monday so you probably wont get an email until tuesday, if at all next week.

We have also been going to Glenrothes a lot and discovering really cool pathways to stop and talk to people. I will send some pictures but it is just so beautiful and green everywhere and I feel like if i lived her i would be in really good shape because i would just love running these back forest trails all the time!
Sunday was Stake Conference and it was a broadcast from the states. Elder Eyring talked and did way good! He talked about agency. A member of the 70 who was born in Scotland talked as well and his talk was amazing. Not a real topic i could pick out but he talked a lot about the importance of bringing the less active back and builiding the uk churches up more! It was cool to see.

With moves last week elder lever left and so elder celestini now has a new companion called elder johns. I havent met him yet but we're all going to the coast for pday today so hopefully there will be cool pictures of that next week! other than that our district stayed the same with missionaries.
I hope everybody has a blessed week!
Love, Sister Hulet
