Week 1: Scotland

So i finally made it to Scotland afrter a day at the mtc with an awesome companion for a day! Sister Willie from St George was waiting for her UK visa as well so she could head off to England! But I had probably the worst traveling expirience there is.. just simply put, not only did i have to travel a day after my entire district but I was alone, plane delays, plane maintenence, trying to contact my mission home at 2 am soct time, kind strangers, security checks, immigrant/boarder issues, and finally, they lost my luggage. I swear if i didnt love Scotland so much already i would be angry! I guess i can look back and picture myself sitting in that room being questioned by the boarder patrol because of my 'suspicious' visa and no address of residence in scotland, and laugh.... anyway, mom, i survived so calm down! Good stories all around.

So where to begin? I am serving in the Kirkcaldy (the l is silent, mind you) Fife Scotland area right now. My companions are sister galbraith and sister hopkin. sister hopkin has been out for 9 months and is training sister galbraith and myself. there were so many new sisters that there are two companionships in our zone with 3 sisters. Crazy times! so many missionaries taking over! Our flat is lovely! Its sea side so we wake up and have this crazy good view! The elders were living in it for the past 7 years i think they said, so its a bit messy but the relief society president cleaned it and put fesh flowers in it to give it a nice feminie touch :) speaking of, the members in our ward are amazing! The ward hasnt had sister missionaries in a long time so they were all so excited to see us and the relief society pres has already thrown a lot of big plans at us to stay involved. The ward is small yet the area it covers is very large. Not just the fife area but a lot of surrounding ones. There are a lot of inactive members, like a lot! and that is some of our main focus' out here! so we will be teaching, and contacting a lot of them to try and get them back on the lords side. . Relief society had about 25 people and the lesson was about 10% lesson and 90% comments! They LOVE to talk over here, very loud, and laughing every other word! its great though i just have to pay close close attention to make sure i catch 80% of it, which is usually pretty good. Also, i'm safe if i just smile and laugh... cuz they are all so happy and kind all the time!
Random things. They love car washes here. no joke, like its raining and we'll be walking by a car wash and the line is always so long. i dont know why but that just kills me. The food so far has been awesome! We ate royal game stew and couscous the other night and my comps wouldnt eat the stew because it had deer, qual, and venison liver. I thought it was delicous and explained that liver and onions is good, especially when my grandma hulet makes it! they thought i was weird but they were the ones going hungry that night so, whose the idiot now? i mean, the dummy now (i have to keep checking myself and my language, i'm a missionary now..)

So far, we havent had much progress. Sister Galbraith and I were sick last saturday so we stayed in and got to know the area book and ALL the less actives of the ward. We've also been out Chappin (knocking doors), and streep contacting! Soo scary! Like i never thought of myself as shy, but when you have to walk up to some angry looking stranger and ask if he'd like to hear a message about Jesus Christ and happiness, you get humbled pretty quickly. All day we had no real luck and then on Sunday night Sister Hopkin stopped a guy named Steven and he was interested! WHAT! i was so excited to not get rejected that i was just grinning the whole time, he probably thought i was crazy! He accepted to book of mormon and we're going to try by his flat tonight to see if he's had a chance to read any! Also, we met with the McDonalds. They are a fomous couple in our mission because they are President Brown's (mission pres) friends and they've technically been investigating for 50 years.. they are super cool and talked our ears off but hopefully we can get somewhere with them!
Well good to hear everything is going well! Love you all!
